1939 Kjølstrukket 27/10.
1940 Bygget som korvett HMS AUBRETIA ved George Brown & Co. (Marine) Ltd, Greenock for Royal Navy. Sjøsatt 05/09, levert 23/12.
HMS AUBRETIA var av den kjente Flower-klassen. Alle korvetter i denne klassen bar blomsternavn. Korvettene var bygget for å dekke et behov for å eskortere skips konvoier i kystfarvann. Det engelske Admirality (RN) henvendte seg til verkstedet Smiths Dock. Smiths Dock tok så sin kjente hvalbåt design og modifiserte denne til hva som kom til å bli en klassisk annen verdenskrigs småskips klasse. Etter krigen ble disse fartøy faset ut og solgt til sivil bruk. Da skroget passet godt til hvalfangst ble mange av dem solgt og ombygget til moderne hvalbåter. Mange ble ombygget til diesel drift.
Blomsten Aubretia kalles Hagepute på norsk.

1941 Inngikk i 3dje Escort Group, Western Approaches Command i februar med base i Greenock for eskortetjeneste for konvoier på Nord Atlanteren. Var med på å tvinge den tyske ubåten U-110 (Kapitänleutnant Fritz-Julius Lemp) til overflaten 15/05 med dypvannsbomber i samarbeide med to jagere. Mannskapet på ubåten overga ubåten grunnet store ødeleggelser. U-110 ble bordet av mannskap fra engelske marine for å finne den verdifulle dekodingmaskinen ENIGMA og skipspapirer. Ubåten ble tatt på slep, men sank på vei til Island. Det er også sagt at ubåten ble senket for å holde hemmelig at man hadde fått tak i denne ENIGMA-maskinen.
1942 Beordret til fra april å assistere i forberedelsen til den planlagte allierte landgangen i Nord-Afrika (Operasjon TORCH). Fortsatte i vakt og konvoytjeneste i Middelhavet.
1943 Fortsetter tjenesten i Middelhavet frem til juli. Overført til 41st Escort Group. Tjenestegjorde som eskortefartøy for konvoier under kryssing av Atlanteren til og fra Freetown, Sierra Leone fra juli til desember.
1944 Stasjonert i Gibraltar fra mai. Jaktet på ubåter observert av amerikanske Catalina fly som benyttet magnetiske søkemetoder.
Var med på angrep 15/05 på
U-731 (Oberleutnant zur See Graf Alexander von Keller) i posisjon 35.54N-05.45 V, nord for Kapp Spartel i Gibraltarstredet. Ubåten ble senket med synkeminer. Ingen av ubåtmannskapet overlevde.
Utpekt, under amerikansk kommando sammen med korvetten
COLUMBINE (senere kjent som LEIF WELDING) å delta som eskorte fartøy ved den planlagte landgang i Syd-Frankrike (Operasjon DRAGOON – tidligere ANVIL). Stasjonert i Taranto, Italia. I september tilbakelevert til RN (Royal Navy). Fortsetter konvoitjeneste ut året.
1945 Tatt ut av tjeneste i mai og lagt opp som reserve.
1947 Plassert på listen over utrangerte fartøy.
1948 Solgt til A/S Kosmos (Anders Jahre & Co. A/S), Sandefjord for ombygging til hvalbåt. Omdøpt til ARNFINN BERGAN etter kapteinen på JAMAICA som omkom under en torpedering 07/03-1943.Deltok som bøyebåt for KOSMOS III
sesongen 1948/49 etter en liten tilpasset ombygging ved Howaldtswerke, Hamburg, Vest-Tyskland.
1949 Om morgenen 06/02 mistet KOS 33 propellen. ARNFINN BERGAN tok den under slep 07/02 med kurs for Freemantle, WA, Australia for reparasjon. Fører var Georg Floberg. Alfred J. Andersen var maskinsjef. Bemanningen bestod av 20 mann ved avgang.
1949 Som bøyebåt (slepebåt) for KOSMOS III sesongen 1949/50. Fører var Georg Floberg. Alfred J. Andersen var maskinsjef. Bemanningen bestod av 20 mann ved avgang.

1964 Denne sesongen var det 9 hvalbåter med. Seks av dem tidligere «Flower class» korvetter: ARNE SKONTORP, ASBJØRN LARSEN, ARNFINN BERGAN, MILLIAM KIHL, LEIF WELDING og SOUTHERN TERRIER.
1964 Fanget for KOSMOS IV sesongen 1964/65. Skytter var Kåre Marthinsen.
1965 Gikk i opplag etter sesongen 1964/65.
1966 Solgt til Norsk Skipsopphugging i Grimstad for hugging.

History in English:

1940 Built as corvette AUBRETIA by Geo.Brown & Co.(Marine), Ltd., Greenock. Delivery to the British Royal Navy took place in December.
HMS AUBRETIA was one of the well-known Flower-class corvettes. All corvettes in this class carried flower names. The corvettes were built to cover a demand of smaller escort vessels during the World War II. British Admiralty (Royal Navy) contacted the
Smith's Dock who took the design of one of their whale catchers and modified it into what was to become the classic Second World War small ship - the Flower Class Corvette. After the war all this vessel became a surplus of the RN fleet and was put out for sale to civil use. Since the hull was built on a traditional whale catcher hull, they were well prepared for conversion to modern whale catchers. Many had their steam machinery replaced by diesel propulsion.
1941 Joined the 3rd Escort Group, Western Approaches Command in February based in Greenock for escort service for convoys in the North Atlantic. Participated in forcing German submarine U-110 to the surface with deep-water bombs in cooperation with two destroyers 15/05. The crew of the submarine abandoned the submarine due to major damage. U-110 was boarded by bording crew from the Royal Navy to find the valuable decoding machine ENIGMA and ship papers. The submarine was towed but sank on its way to Iceland. It is also said that the submarine was sunk to keep secret that this ENIGMA machine had been obtained.
1942 Ordered from April to assist in the preparation of the planned Allied landing in North Africa (Operation TORCH). Continues duty and convoy service in the Mediterranean throughout the year.
1943 Continues service in the Mediterranean until July. Transferred to 41st Escort Group. Served as an escort vessel for convoys while crossing the Atlantic to and from Freetown from July to December.
1944 Stationed in Gibraltar from May. Hunting for submarines observed by American Catalina aircraft that used magnetic search methods.
Participated in attack on
U731 on 15/05 in position N35.54/W05.45, north of Cape Spartel in the Strait of Gibraltar. The submarine was sunk with sinking mines. None of the submarine crew survived.
Designated, under American command together with the corvette
COLUMBINE (later known as LEIF WELDING) to participate as an escort vessel at the planned landing in the South of France (Operation DRAGOON - formerly ANVIL). Stationed in Taranto, Italy. Returned to RN (Royal Navy) in September. Continues convoy service throughout the year.
1945 Taken out of service after the V-day in May and added as a reserve.
1947 After the service in the Royal Navy was over, it was placed in the list of decommissioned vessels.
1948 Purchased by A/S Kosmos (Anders Jahre & Co. A/S), renamed ARNFINN BERGAN. Participated as tug for the factory KOSMOS III-expedition the season of 1948/49 after a little conversion at the Howaldtswerke Hamburg.
The catcher was renamed ARNFINN BERGAN after the master of motor vessel JAMAICA, who lost his life during a torpedoing on 07/03-1943.
During whaling season, in the morning of 06/02-1949 the KOS 33 lost her propeller. ARNFINN BERGAN took her under tow on 07/02-1949 heading for Freemantle, Australia for repair.
1949 Sent to whaling in the Antarctic as tug for the KOSMOS III-expedition during season of 1949/50. She was used as tug and buoy boat all seasons until the end of season 1950/51.
1951 Converted to whale catcher by Kieler Howaldtswerke in Kiel, Germany during the summer.
Sent to the Antarctic as whale catcher for the factory KOSMOS III the season of 1951/52.
1952 Laid up in Sandefjord during season of 1952/53 as the factory KOSMOS III was trading as regular tanker.
1953 Catching for floating factory KOSMOS III as a catcher for the 1953/54 season. The shooter was Sigurd Jahre, Sandefjord.
1954 Catching for floating factory KOSMOS III as a catcher for the 1954/55 season. The shooter was Sigurd Jahre.
1955 Catching for floating factory KOSMOS III as a catcher for the 1955/56 season. The shooter was Sigurd Jahre, Sandefjord.
