1958 Overtatt av Central Electricity Generating Board,
Portsmouth. Samme manager.
1960 Det oljefyrte kraftverket Marchwood Power Station ved

i nærheten av Strømstad og lagt opp.
2004 Overtatt av Stiftelsen MS ”Hamen”
ex. DS ”Tandik”:
2013
Dokksatt i januar. Skrog og overbygg er undersøkt og delvis utbedret, og
videre arbeider planlegges.

History in English: |
1948
Built as POMPEY POWER by S. P. Austin & Son Ltd, Wear Dock,
Sunderland, England for The Lord Mayor, Aldermen
and Citizens of the City of Portsmouth, England. Launched 21/06.
1949 Delivered in January.
The ship entered the collier-fleet, carrying coal from North of England
to the coal-fired power-plants in Portsmouth, England. Just after the
first delivery of coal to Portsmouth, the
electricity industry was nationalised and the ships taken over by The
British Electricity Authority (Stephenson, Clarke Ltd), Portsmouth.
1954 Taken over by Central Electricity Authority, Portsmouth.
Same manager.
1958 Taken over by Central Electricity Generating Board. Same
manager.
1960 The oil-fired Marchwood Power Station near Southampton,
England opened. The need for coal was reduced.
Subsequently POMPEY POWER was sold to Rederi-A/S Orion (Tandberg
& Møinichen), Drammen. Renamed TANDIK.
1962 Sold for NOK 650.000 to Hans Utkilen, Bergen. Converted to
motorship and upgraded at Stavanger and Rubbestadneset. New engine:
Wichmann
9ACAT.
2–stroke/sa.,
9-cylinder, cyl. dim.: 280 x 420 mm. 1.200 BHP. Built by
Wichmann Motorfabrikk A/S,
Rubbestadneset.
1963 Trials in June. Renamed HAMEN.
Re-measured: 1.780 tdw, 1.364 grt, 649 nrt.
1986 Laid up north of Bergen.
1996 Sold to Lupin Shipping Ltd (Alvar Olsson, Varberg, Sweden),
Kingstown, St Vincent & the Grenadines. Towed to Iddefjorden near
Strömstad, Sweden. And HAMEN was nearly forgotten for years.
2004 Taken over by Stiftelsen MS ”Hamen” ex. DS ”Tandik”:
The foundation is established to secure and preserve HAMEN as a
stationary historic vessel and museum. The foundation bought the ship in
2004, and it is now temporarily secured. We have received economic and
political support from different sources, for instance from the
Norwegian Council for Cultural Heritage, a private trust, from the
Norwegian Parliament, and from some private companies. The ship is still
laid up in Sweden. At present, the working conditions are very, very
difficult. HAMEN should definitely be docked as soon as possible,
to secure the underwater hull. The decks and the roofs of the deckhouses
are leaking and in poor conditions. However, under the present economic
conditions, it is not possible for the foundation to tow the ship to a
yard for docking. We are in urgent need of money, and the situation for
HAMEN may be critical and impossible for the foundation to handle
within a short time. We are therefore in need of any kind of help, as
economical, practical, political and moral, to save the ship from this
present situation. It is still possible to secure and preserve HAMEN
if the recourses are available, but
there is not much time to do it!
2012 Towed in December to Hirtshals, Denmark.
2013
Dry-docked in January. Hull and superstructure surveyed and partly
repaired. Further upgrading planned.
