Bygget som «Flower-class» korvett HMS WALLFLOWER K-44 ved Smith's
Dock Co. Ltd, South Bank, Middlesbrough, England. Sjøsatt 14/11.
1941 Levert 07/03. Berget i august 10 overlevende fra den
britiske passasjerbåten AQUILA utenfor Fastnet Rock, Irland etter
en torpedering.
1942 Berget i august 62 overlevende etter torpederingen av det
nederlandske handelsfartøyet ABBEKERK.
1943 Var sammen med jageren WANDERER med på å senke
den tyske ubåten U-523 (Kapitänleutnant Werner Pietzsch)
25/08 i Nord Atlanteren, vest av Vigo, Spania. 17 omkom og 37
overlevende fra ubåten.
1949 Solgt til Spermacet Whaling Co. (Anders Jahre & Co. A/S,
Sandefjord), Panama for ombygging til hvalbåt. Omdøpt til ASBJØRN
LARSEN.
Navnet Asbjørn Larsen kom fra en hvalskytter som deltok i hvalfangst
på kysten av Peru med THORSHAMMER-ekspedisjonen under krigen. Han
var skytter om bord i hvalbåten THORGAUT. Under fangst 05/11-1943
eksploderte hvalkanonen. Han ble landsatt i Callao samme dag, og
gravlagt på den britiske kirkegården i Callao. Asbjørn Larsen var
født på gården Ormestad i Vesterøya, Sandefjord (Sandar).
Ombygget for bruk som bøyebåt ved Kieler Howaldtswerke A.G., Kiel,
Vest-Tyskland.
Fulgte kokeriet KOSMOS III til Sydishavet for deltagelse i
hvalfangsten fra sesongen 1949/50 som bøyebåt.
1950 Bøyebåt for KOSMOS III sesongen 1950/51.
1951 Ferdigstilt som fullverdig hvalbåt ved Kieler Howaldtswerke
A.G., Kiel denne sommeren.
Fanget for KOSMOS III sesongen 1951/52. Skytter var John
F. Larsen.
1952 Etter hjemkomst fra sesongen 1951/52 ble flåten til
KOSMOS III lagt i opplag, da kokeriet blir satt i tankfart under
hele sesongen 1952/53.

1940 The keel laid 23/07-1940. Built as a "Flower-class" corvette
HMS WALLFLOWER at Smith's Dock Co., Ltd, South Bank,
Middlesbrough. Launched 14/11-1940
1941 Commissioned 07/03-1941. Served for the British Royal Navy
as HMS WALLFLOWER (K-44).
Already in August, WALLFLOWER picked up 10 survivors from the
British passenger vessel AQUILA off Fastnet Rock after a
torpedoing.
1942 In August, 62 survivors from the torpedoing of Dutch
merchant vessels ABBEKERK were picked up.
1943 Took part in sinking of German boat U-523 in the
North Atlantic west of Vigo in Spain 25/08. Sunk made with depth charges
from HMS WALLFLOWER and the destroyer HMS WANDERER
1949 Sold to and taken over by Spermacet Whaling Co. (Anders Jahre &
Co. A/S, Sandefjord), Panama for conversion to a whale catcher. Renamed
ASBJØRN LARSEN.
Asbjørn Larsen's name comes from a whale shooter who participated in
whaling off the coast of Peru with THORSHAMMER expedition during
the war. He was a shooter on board the catcher THORGAUT. During
hunting 05/11-1943 the gun exploded and killed Mr Larsen. The ship went
to Callao the same day. He was landed and buried at the British cemetery
in Callao.
Converted for use as a buoy boat (tug boat) by the Kieler Howaldtswerke
AG, Kiel for the KOSMOS III-expedition.
Departed Sandefjord heading for the whaling ground as buoy boat for the
factory KOSMOS III in the season 1949/50.
1950 At the autumn a new turn in the Southern Seas whaling
grounds as buoy boat for the whaling factory KOSMOS III for the
season of 1950/51.
1951 Completed as catcher by Kieler Howaldtswerke AG, Kiel this
summer. Sold to A/S Kosmos (Anders Jahre & Co), Sandefjord.
Went to the whaling ground as full bloodied whale catcher for KOSMOS
III in the season of 1951/52. Gunner was Mr John F. Larsen.
1952 After arrival Sandefjord, in the spring of 1952, the whole
fleet of KOSMOS III was laid up, as the factory were sent to
trading as a regular crude oil tanker from the summer and until the next
summer.
1953 To the whaling ground as catcher for KOSMOS III for
the season of 1953/54. Gunner was Nils Iversen.
1954 To the whaling ground as catcher for KOSMOS III For
the season of 1954/55. Gunner was Nils Iversen.
1955 To the whaling ground as catcher for KOSMOS III For
